Blogging’s ‘del.ici.ous;’ Facebook? TMI

Welcome to Prose Suey!
Until now, my level of participation in social media was analogous to me sitting on the side of the pool of digital networks with my feet in. Since my digital-campaigns debut, however, I’m “del.ici.ous.ing,” blogging, and I joined Facebook (albeit, a faceless account). So, I guess I’m up to about … my knees now. Am I still wrapped in a towel, shivering a bit? Well, yeah, but I’ve plunged swimmingly into the blogosphere.

Exercising Graff’s total digital immersion, diving into chapter after chapter of his book, The First Campaign, I emerged with a better understanding of just how much economic development and national security hinges on political leaders’ willingness to fully embrace and invest in technology and global markets. I am also more conscious of my contribution (or lack thereof) to the cause as a partaker of educational training (i.e. digital campaigns), which will strengthen the workforce and sustain the integrity of the country’s technical infrastructure into the future.

There’s no faking your way into social media. It’s not just technology, it’s a way of life. You have to be open and most of all — be yourself. It’s all about using Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, etc. in a way that fits your lifestyle and personality. To the extend your social in the real world is the same extent to which you’ll be willing to let your hair down in the virtual world. It all depends on how much control you’re willing to give up. Looking at positively, there’s also a lot to gain. The freedom to express yourself in a very empowering and organically democratic way. It will take some getting used to and I don’t know how far I’ll go with it, but i’m proceeding with cautious optimism. So far, so good. Stay tuned. There’s more to come.
